DESIGN SPACE
My design space is divided into three macrocategories that reflect my interests and the path I wish to take in my design work: inspiration, process, and outcome.
Inspiration: This phase is about finding the meaning of the project, focusing on real and relevant issues through social interaction and investigation. It is essential to identify the right context, to address concrete and current issues.
Process: Here I focus on techniques and materials. I am already familiar with using metals and concrete, but I want to explore new materials, such as biomaterials, and experiment with different techniques. The goal is to find those best suited to my area of interest, with a focus on materials development.
Outcome: The ultimate goal is to create a clear and accessible outcome that can make complex or unfamiliar topics understandable. I want to use my role as a designer to build a bridge between scientific knowledge and the community through experimentation, collaboration, and interdisciplinary co-creation, creating a language that everyone can understand.
EXTENDED WORKSPACE
ATLAS OF WEAK SIGNALS
The Atlas of Weak Signals game cards have helped me to reflect better on my research and design journey, reflect on trends still in the making, and opened up new perspectives and ideas for me to explore. In addition to the themes I have already worked on and wish to continue exploring, I have selected other areas that seem to be detached from my main focus. However, these new directions still represent potential areas of interest and experimentation, always in line with my desire to design.
FINAL DESIGN SPACE 1 TERM
Partner’s inquiry prototype
This GIF showcases a prototype developed as an adaptation of Max’s previous project: a device for bicycles that measures road 'bumpiness' to assess rideability. Originally designed as a research archetype (Role 3), I've taken it in a new direction toward an experimental component (Role 1). My prototype introduces a suspension system, aiming to absorb impacts and improve ride comfort on rough terrain.
ps: the second audio reflection is in a video format that you can find in my first group intervention.
PROPOSAL
For the pictorial draft, I’d like to take a physical approach and create something like a magazine/book. The idea is to keep it simple, inspired by Bruno Munari’s style, but also experiment with different techniques. I’d include photography, sketches, and if I have even tactile or material elements to make it more interactive. Each page could have something unique—textures, cutouts, or layered elements—to engage both visually and physically. The goal is to make something playful and exploratory, where people can discover and interact with the content in unexpected ways. It’s a mix of simplicity and experimentation.
